A New Way of Dressing

Hey all,

I'm still feeling kinda rocky--I abhor migraines--so this will be a quick blog. Tomorrow I'll have a longer one about celebrating the Chinese New Year. I'll have pics of a parade, the Lion Dance and the traditional Lo Hei Session (the tossing of Luck). But today I thought I'd share with you something I've found and fallen in love with.

Tube Sarongs.

Now, I know it's just an article of clothing, but here in Singapore where it is bloody hot and oh-so-humid, this handy little piece of cloth is a godsend. I bought one...went OMG and went out and bought two more.

And it can be worn both by men and women. In fact, traditionally, the tube sarong was a piece of clothing worn first by males.

Now for those who don't know what one is, let me elaborate. A tube sarong is a piece of material in the shape of a wide tube.

Duh.

LOL. No really. Seriously, when I first bought one, I had to go online to see how to wear the damn thing. I think the shopkeeper told me, but his English was so broken, I usually just wind up say okay...sure, sure and moving on!

The thing is you can wear it in so many ways. My personal fave is what I'm doing in the pic above--as a skirt. (click on the pic to see better) You wrap it around you and if you get it right, you don't need a pin or anything else to keep it on, it just does it on it's own.

But you can wear it in a myriad of ways. I've worn it over my bathing suit as a cover up, and shortened it into a mini dress. I've even folded it and worn it more like a bandeau, but like I said, my favorite way is the skirt.

The fabrics are light and airy and because it is so hot you need all the help you can get here. And Jonathon says he likes the easy access. *grin* Did I say that aloud???

Anyway, here is a website where I found out how to wear the sarong. WEBSITE I bought one for my daughter and sons too, they are going to love it in sunny Florida!!!

And I will be bringing a few home as summer contests gifts for my readers, so you all may have a chance to try one on yourself!!!

Hugs to all,

CJ England

Hi CJ, I checked out the sarong website. Lord love us, I gotta say, you are at least a zillion times a better model than ‘Omar’! LOL. [Ditto for the material of your sarong :-)]
Seriously now, I love clothes that are comfortable and the sarong adds beauty, style and adaptability! Keep shopping! Sara J. ~ : - ]
[P.S. Jonathon is delightfully naughty! :-)]

I forgot to tell you that I voted for you at the CafĂ©. And while I’m here ~
The same newletter that had those Singapore articles had another today: “Dating in Singapore – or how to fail where others have succeeded”. {Another view of Singapore?} He mentioned “green men” (?) for crossing streets, a toy museum (?) for a date, dinner at Rochester Park and Swissotel by Clarke Quay (?) among comments about the people and culture. Dang! On my computer the link left out the word "Dating". It goes before "in-Singapore". Sigh.

Thanks everyone! My headache is finally under control. A lot of it was heat, some was not eating on time. And I know better. *rolls eyes*

Phylis,

They are really comfy and you can adjust them as tight or loose as necessary!

Sara,

Thanks for the info. We live right on Clarke Quay, so I know of what you speak. And the nightlife is crazy here. Walked home after the parade last night and the Quay was bustling with life. Whew!!!

And he knows he's naughty. LOL That's why I adore him. *smile*

Lisa,

It is better, thanks. And you should try the tube sarong. So easy.

May want to wait til the snow is gone, though. LOL

Fichen1,

Thanks! I'm loving all the fashions here. Last night I wore a chinese skirt. So soft and comfy!
